Soomeoneee know how to fix this or ever seen it? It randomly does this sometime and I can't get it to fix even if I unplug it, disable it and enable it, i dunno, restart the program I was scanning in, and i guess I haven't tried restarting the computer but it was working fine earlier!
This scanner is my only scanner and I don't have an option of getting a new one. It's so old it doesn't have drivers. It previews fine but it doesn't scan it riightttt.
It's a CANOSCAN N650U/N656U

I'm good with computers, not printers, but I have to ask,
Is your scanner closed all the way when scanning?
How old is it?
Because it looks to me like your scanner might be shot. I'm going to school to be a Microsoft IT technician so I'll ask my teacher about it for you.

Try placing something heavy on top of it to make sure all the light is blocked, or flipping the page around on the scanner.
Also, see if you can, after you scan the image, darken the picture. One of my pencil doodles came out way too bright, and I had to darken the picture as dark as possible to see everything.

and they don't make drivers for windows 7
I've read that the drivers they do have for windows XP are compatible with windows 7. I downloaded it a few months ago and it was horrribleee. Very slow and crashed a lot. I just use GIMP to import the pictures

Dude, I hate to tell you, but considering that there is no driver support and it's over 8 years old, I think it's time to get a new printer. I saw a comment that suggested using Windows XP compatibility mode. That is a feature in Windows 7 Professional edition that allows you to run Windows XP inside Windows 7. It MIGHT fix your problem, but WinXP mode takes a while to set up (especially if you have slow internet) and based on the symptoms your scanner is giving you, it sounds like a hardware issue and not a software issue that XP mode can fix. I can show you have to try Windows XP mode, and you can PM me for that, but I have my doubt that will fix this and might end up being a waste of time. I think its time for a new scanner. :\
Hmm...well, you could always just take the two extra seconds to rotate it in your image editing program of choice :3 I'm not exactly sure how to adjust the scan in settings via a scanner. I've always just done it the "open in ms paint, ctrl+A, right click, select rotate" until it's how I like it.
If it's ten years old and sometimes does that and sometimes not, the flex connector migtht be damaged.
If it works okay with the preview, try scanning the image at a lower resolution like 72dpi.
If there was a light problem then the image would be half black or completely black (depending on the kind of illumination used)
I can see some lines on the white part, try tracing the skecthes harder and then lower the brightness/gamma when scanning.

Here are the drivers for the scanner.

Hope that helps.

A mode used to run the program as if it were running on a previous Windows version, here are some images: http://help.unc.edu/6037
Your drawing is being washed-out in that area from the scanner being too bright, assuming that side is the end where the light comes to rest, it passes over that area with light the most, which makes it brighter than the rest of the drawing.
I had the N670U series CanoScan scanner. Little blue and gray thing. It worked just fine on Windows 7 for me. I also had a HP 5700 scanner which also worked in Windows 7. (I had to test them and make sure they still worked before selling them.)
Download the latest driver available, and plug the scanner in. When it asks you for the drivers, select the folder where the drivers you just downloaded are. As for programs compatible with the software, I forget what I used, but I Googled around and eventually found the name of the program that was originally bundled with it. The only issue I had with compatibility was the physical buttons on the scanner did not work, and I had to use the buttons within the program.
