This is my half of an ACEO trade with aerinl. She asked me to draw her awesome gryphon character Herbl: http://aerinl.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d2t01uw He's so pretty. 8D
I really enjoyed making this piece. It was a nice change of pace from all of the digital stuff that I've been doing lately. Sorry it took me so long to finish this, Aerinl, but I had to buy some new acrylics to paint Herbl's beak, tongue, and eyes. I have a bad tendency to not buy brightly-colored acrylics and I don't get to go to the art store very often. :V
I included a Monarch butterfly because they're currently migrating here and I've seen a lot of them over the past couple of weeks. I guess you can say I have Monarch butterflies on the brain, haha. Monarchs live in NZ too so I thought it would be cool to include one.
