I figured that since I spent nearly a week on modelling this thing some time ago, I best bilk it for what it is worth.
surprisingly, it fits into the photographic background with only moderate adaptation.
just don't zoom too close, cause a fair bit of blurring has been done to keep this picture consistant.

took a surprising amount of convincing to get it to look right.
but here the trick I figured out.
desaturate both layers by about half,
merge them,
created a new layer and fill it with a common colour in both of the previous layer.
turn down the opacity for the new layer
finally, merge all together.

That was a week well spent in my opinion. The model merges well with the background and the heat trails behind the engines is a nice touch.
Is it a straight black paint job on the plane, or is it some sort of a black/grey camoflage? I'm finding it difficult to tell.
I'm going to have to draw a variant of this when I get back from camping next week. It's too damn cool not to.
