My part of the art trade with
yamibliss The idea popped up when I saw his furrsona. In somepoint, he resemblances my character Wolver. And I think they would be great duelist duo.
This time I tried to explore a new technique: Coloring outlines. My friend advised me to use various color on the outline (so that wouldn't plain black) and I just tried without serious intention.
But then... I... errr, as usual, couldn't stop and although it took hella lot of time, at last it's finished and I think it's not really bad. In contrary it makes so much BETTER! (darn him...) But I dunno if I would use this technique again *sigh* Good effort needs so much time. But who knows...
Background was randomly taken from my own photograph, and... I think I just want to play Playstation 2 when finishing this stuff (I wanna plaaaay a gaaaame!! ToT )
I tried to find a smiliar fonts, but I admit I suck at typography, so heck...
And I know it's supposed to be ESRB-thingy, but I changed it to FSRD, which stands for "Fakultas Seni Rupa & Desain" (Indonesian for Art & Design Faculty), hehehe...

Well, using Lasso, I separate linearts (And divide it into some sections like hairlines, furrlines, shirtlines etc etc etc OUCH the PAIN!!), and then I bright it a little (untill it's gray), and I adjust the color).
How's your method, I do need to save time and pain for that ^^

I "magic wand"-selected all the black lineart at the flat-shading stage, and simply painted the masked-off linework as appropriate.
No need to make multiple masks, since with lines selected and masked off, all your painting will be confined to the linework. Just enlarge the brush to cover large sections quickly, and shrink it down to get the tight narrow spots where different-colored lines get close together. You can also use the airbrush tool to add gradual shading effects where appropriate (learned that one recently).
I did this pic as well as this pic using this method.

Ugh, extra slash--here's the link to the second pic that'll actually work.
