The most common of the castes in my Wyvern species, the Kinfe.

These guys are about 4 feet at the shoulder and 12ft long.

Their skin is often a mottled orangy yellow, and their eyes are a pale orange. Those males competeing for Alpha status (such as the one shown above) develope deep rusty markings. The more complex and defined the markings, the more testosterone the male has. This one is a fairly high ranking individual thoudhhis chances would be greater if he had more facial markings than he has.

A few important differences to note between the Beta Males and Females is the lack of the killing claws on the Beta Males. The Beta Males are the primary guardians of the Rookeries, where the Eggs and Kreflig (the fourth caste, the young of the species, which are hermaphrodite) are kept. The killing claws are not needed in the Males, as they only need to be truly agressive during hunts and when the Ranking fights take place. The claws are also not wanted due to the Beta Females' being very agressive and taking a Beta Male with killing claws aa a threat to their Kreflig.

Beta Males are significantly less intelligent than their femal counterparts, though if they achieve Alpha status, their brains go under a massive overhaul and they gain high intelligence and the ability to communicate with humans, Dragons, and othe sentient species.
Beta Females can speak to a limited degree, but they are highly intelligent in their own right.

Beta Males have a short lifespan, and most never see a Ranking. They would be the workers and the nurses if the Wyverns could compare with an ant colony.
