Awesome deal, awesome! It's amazing what people will almost throw away. I got a top-notch Akai solid-state amp (my first ever) a couple of weeks ago for $60, a mad-money purchase that'll last me forever. Might like this, shows what you can do with an oddly shaped space. Pure furry weirdo decadence!

Ah film. I used a film camera last spring for a couple of weeks and went half-nuts trying to decide what to reserve the few shots you get on a roll for. For years I was telling people to hold off but now digital has finally come into it's own. I mean, figure the film and developing costs for 300 shots or so which is what I take on a standard outing. You know too how many shots it takes to get that one that you're going to keep.
Still though, that chemical process will never be replaced just like the analog solid-state sound of that amp. Chemical film being very analogous to (heh) the non-clipped analog sound of that amp. Real definition and sensitivity to low light and subtle sound.

you have my dream tool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
gahhhh
lol
man you would go nuts at the local goodwill here.
they have amps out the bloody ass for 20-30 a pop and they work nicely.
lol
hell i still have an old radio/record player sitting in my closet just gathering dust tis a crying shame.
lol.
as for you point on SLR cameras i agree. there are more photos professionally done using film then there are with digital and for one reason. when you take a picture in BW and its digitally processed that way. but if you do it with a film camera its natural and has less imprefections then a digital image tends to have when going through the color removal process.
I'll stick with film because it has some features that make it more fun then digital has.
for one being the legendary long exposure trick used to take pictures of those highways with the lines of lights of junk.
lol
mine can do that but only with manual exposure attachment. but it still has bulb exposure so the camera still takes a super long exposure only i have to be there to hold the button till i'm done.
lol.
good times good times.
i noticed your doggy hiding under those sheets. is he hiding from the camera
lol.
still i curse you for owning my amp
gahhh
/me is so jealous that he sneaks over and steals it.
gahahahahaha
its mine now!!!

Urrr, I got lots of dreams. Which one is your pick? Thrift store addict! That's the only electronics type item I've ever bought in one. What I'm on the lookout for are fun plush (hopefully of a toony and non-disney nature), bad art of the truly special sort of bad that makes you want to scrub your mind with steel-wool, strange objects that just shouldn't have been made, and Books Books Books! Having a space like this means that I can actually have what can be considered an actual library.
Chemical vs digital is exactly like analog vs digital. The biggest advantage to film is that you don't have that megapixel limit, just as you don't have that clipping and squeezing of sound that you do with digital audio. Think of how much you can blow up a standard shot. I'd say the biggest I can print a picture is 16x20 but the biggest prints I've ever ordered were 13xsomethingorother.
The long exposure trick is no problem with this camera. Exposure time goes up to 30 seconds which is plenty long enough. I've got a few of those pictures of the car lights streaking along a wet bridge at night, beautiful but not appropriate to this site. I've tried to keep everything nature-only because it can be (and has been) argued that it fits into a furry/anthro mind-set.
Pups! Gracie is a husky cross and loves to burrow. I love the personality differences between them. Benny is the typical strong but silent GS, always on the look-out for intruders and Gracie is a fun bouncy yelpy me me me me look at me type. I call her my high-maintenance bitch (lulz!)

Aiee! Sweet! I gave my nieces a 1914 copy of Peter Pan, first run of the mass-market north-american pressing and a 1930's edition of Pinocchio. I was very happy to see them dig right in.
That does sound like quite the impressive collection! And blessings upon us who follow St. Liebowitz eh? Time used to be when having a library actually meant something. My personal collection would be mainly science, sci-fi, and art but I've been buying a lot of stuff that's more along the lines of things a good library should have.
Poe? Always! A man who was far too sane for this world.
"Some people never go crazy... What truely horrible lives they must live."
- Charles Bukowski
Unfortunately there's only one Goodwill I've got access to and that's in a town of 5,000, 35K south of me. It still provides a nice trickle of good finds, stuff you'd never expect to see in a small-town Goodwill (101 Days of Sodom & Other Stories - Marquis de Sade, saucy!!) Just as well that it's only a trickle, cuts down on temptation and I've gotta concentrate resources in other directions anyways.
