Still reposting old art from my DA gallery.
From the June 2009 round of aceofursxchange. I drew AlectorFencer's well-known Plant Spirit character. :]
I couldn't make up my mind about the flower color, so I compromised between red and white and made them pink (and then didn't notice the Shaymin resemblance until I was 90% through painting...)
There's a story behind this picture. We have these vines that crawl up our back fence and gather at the top of the fence. They're so heavy/overgrown that our poor fence is bending under their weight. Anyway, I was musing for a picture idea and came up with the idea of the vines really being the plant spirit trying to take down the man-made fence that bars nature. The plant spirit forms, emerges from the fence, and then tears it down with its tail. The plant spirit is only emerging at this point.
New techniques/things that I tried for this picture: making fur with acrylics, not using black to shade except on areas that were blackish to begin with (thanks for mentioning that tip in your dragon picture's description, myenia), vines (I've never drawn them before). I think that the shading -might- be a bit too saturated in some areas, but it's a definite improvement from my last acrylic pictures.
