Assignment for school. Had to paint something like another artist. I'm a big fan of Louis Wain, so that's who I chose. Almost all of the things he did was cats. The two paintings I really looked at for inspiration were Early Indian Irish and some of the wallpaper cats he did. It was fun to do.
Since it's a cat, I feel it wouldn't be too out of place on this site. I'd like to get some critique if it's possible, since I don't get a chance to paint much.

One of the online art sites I'm subscribed to always talks about his masterpieces.
Might I add you did a very good job for your own masterpiece. Many schools tend to be harsh on artists, so I hope you can keep our comments in mind when the time comes =3.
Your detail in the fur is a veriety of colores many wouldint normaly consider, but they add a tantalizing edge to your image in a silky reflection of this kitties seroundings, great contrast of light and dark as well =D.

Ha, I still find that people in an art class are too nice sometimes. :) I'll take critique from anyone that sees something.
I think the fact that Louis Wain used strange colors is what made this piece very educational for me. Some of the effect was accidental, since I was concentrating a lot on Louis Wain's characteristics, but that's why it's good for people like you who point it out. I'll have to read what you wrote again the next time I do something like this, and concentrate more on that. Thanks a lot!
