This is (AKC registered) Dexis Maximus, but better known as Dexter. He is my 2 year old Papillon. Dexter is the light in my life and keeps me going everyday. He is total spitfire, but sweet as can be. Smarter than any dog I've had to honor to work with. Some of his favorite things include tennis balls, hiking, harassing the cat, destroying toys, and cuddling under blankets.
He is has gotten his CGC, and on his way to Therapy certification. He's completely trained in Agility and begins competing next year! We also start Rally Obedience soon, we just have to perfect a few more things. Not to mention this little guy knows well over 50 tricks and commands.
If you've ever considered getting a Papillon, I say go for it. They are an amazing breed. They are not your typical toy breed. They are extremely intelligent, energetic, friendly, velcro-dogs, and love to please their owners. Don't let their size fool you, they require exercise! My Papillon can run faster and play longer then my Pitbull mix any day of the week.

oh man, YES. <3 MORE PAPILLON FANS!
My family recently welcomed a beautiful AKC-Pap into our lives, as well, and he's an absolute joy!
I'm not a dog person in the least-- I usually have a hard time connecting to anything but exotics and the occasional cat-- but Papillons are a breed apart, for sure! So bright, happy, and fun; full of life and energy, fantastic attitudes, and unbelievably intelligent. We're also fortunate to have a pup from quiet lines (not that Papillons are known for yapping, anyway, but some can be more vocal than others), so he's completely silent unless there's something alerting going on-- perfect as a watch dog, even at such a young age!
Just, AAHHH. <3 I can't praise these creatures enough, I truly can't! I've gone from a mild appreciator to a true Papillon devotee!

OH GOSH, I was so busy gushing that I forgot to ask you something, haha!
Would you happen to know (or, mind disclosing) his origins? He actually looks a lot like our boy (also a hound tri, and one sharing those beautiful, intelligent eyes!), so it'd be interesting to know if the two were related somewhere down the line! :)

They really are an amazing little breed. I wasn't much of a small dog person until I got my Dexter-boy. I doubt there is any relation. I got him from a small breeder in Arizona. He doesn't have any big show lines, just a couple champions scattered in his background. He is no show dog, but that's finw. I much prefer a dog for it's intelligence and spirit over something as trivial as their looks. :P
