I was always wondering why Nintendo made him such a shameless flirt in a G-rated TV series. Sure, he could talk about wanting to have a girlfriend but Nintendo was never really going to have him settle down and marry or have children.
Speaking of which, it's never mentioned how a group of itinerant, pre-teen animal-fighters ever do get money or find lodging every single night. Don't they have school?
