so here is what I got done before bed last night.
this is the paper mache frame half skinned and the foam positive mould I build the mache over (as you can see from the hunks of white I trimmed at it more since the last photo I posted of it)
WHICH WHILE I WAS WORKING LAST NIGHT
I looked up at the clock and went "oh it's only 2AM" and went back to work....a while later I went "Oh its only 2A---wait a minute"
My clock broke :C it is a native bird clock that sings every hour (drives my cockatieal nuts) bought eons ago, and I love that clock, and a new battery is not fixing it...poopie...
and uh, thanks to the clock I worked until 4:20AM >_O
the inside of the beak is all nice and fleeced too, needs a tongue still but the inside is lined.
I went with fleece because I know the material, and unlike fake leather I could stretch a solid piece and have a seamless beak, and unlike fake leather I can paint this (it still needs shading)
I am not sure if I like the cheek feathers :/ I think they are too low and too flat looking???

Also I think the feathers on the cheek may look nicer if instead of a 2d shape perhaps you did a crystal shape? Like a sims crystal lol.
and instead of at the end of the cheek, perhaps have them look a bit more like there coming out of the cheek rather than poking out at the end~ I hope that made sense x.x

Looking wonderful! I can see what you mean about the cheek feathers, though. Perhaps once you get the part behind the eye skinned, it'll look more even? And I think the fix could be as simple as, if the part behind the eye doesn't work, a very MILD shaving. VERY MILD. I think it might even look off because the graphicked Loftwing looks so sleek, and there's actual fluff involved with the feathers.
I do think they look a little flat. I think some shading might help with that. I think it might also be the short fabric next to the long fur making it look more flat. Other than them looking a little flat it is looking great so far. I especially like the beak, I think the seamless look of the fleece was a good choice.
Aww, poor clock... Well, hope you find a new one that's just as nice!
And its looking great so far. As for the cheek features, I think I may have to agree... Would you consider using a fur fabric on them instead to make them fluffy like the red head feathers? That might help, as well as possibly raising them.

Oh, on that note, my stuff is all complete (dummy/shoes), however, my friend's dummy got warped because the pants she was wearing were too stretchy and didn't hold after they were removed. So hers needs to be done again and quite unfortunately, she's been rather busy in the... hospital. So... not sure if it'll be done as fast as we'd hoped. Either way, perhaps it would be best to wait out the Christmas rush.
