I know it's been a *long* time coming, but here's the second track I've gotten around to recording. This is the first track I ever performed in front of a live audience!
Basically about me getting over my fear of not being as good as my heroes.
Huge, huge props to my friend, brother and producer
miyabisan for all of his work on the beats and production. Couldn't do any of this without you
Sorry for the long break, been working on my spoken word a lot, but there's more hip-hop coming. Hope y'all dig it.
Peace and <3

Well...
It was hip-hop that inspired me,
Lit this unending fire in me,
It was words that fuelled the furnace,
Kicked out sparks, straight up ignited the,
Passion you hear me spitting with
Kindled from countless pages ripped,
My confidence, so often,
Waiverin' and leadin' me to slip.
So I sheltered in the shadows,
Of the ones I thought more talented,
More driven and more hungry,
Much more urgent their imperative,
To impart their art unto their audience,
And make their message stick.
Left in jaw-droppin' awe,
I really must admit,
I found myself intimidated by those lyricists,
Terrified of penning rhymes, and never comin' near to it.
Luminaries loomin' large within my vision, all I did was wish,
That I could show a glimmer of their infinite rhetoric gift.
***Break***
I was convinced my unconvincin' verse was never worth considering,
Comparison, embarassin', unable to commit that ink,
To paper, for its brethren had borne such words of influence,
As though the rhymes I scrawled would desecrate this delicate instrument.
By always failing to convey,
What it was I'd meant to say,
Thought process, flawed logic, really naught to display,
Attempts to vent my thoughts and feelings, flows all goin' astray,
Scratched through, torn up, yeah, and thrown away.
***Break***
But every page I threw just got added to the pyre,
Stoked the ashes, built up heat,
I couldn't tame the desire,
To be some one who had something to say,
Not a mediocre wannabe just out to get paid,
The kinda guy who looks at rapping as a way to get laid,
Frontin' like some god-given, genre-killin' king of the stage.
I had no interest in that pathway to fame,
I tamed my temper and attempted to write better each day.
Realised that hard graft, man,
It's really the only way to allay,
Doubts and fears, over years, practice starts to pay,
Dividends, when at last, ya can learn just to play,
With a beat bein' laid by 'boxers or DJs.
Now, I ain't sayin' I've perfected this craft,
Claimin' on my second track,
I really think that'd be daft.
Crafted this to try an' show just how I feel about art,
Some say hip-hop's dead?
Mate, we're still at the start!
Just 'cause the stuff that's hittin' the charts is lackin' meanin'
Don't mean the underground has lost it's voice, ya should believe in,
Music for the sake of makin' music
Never catch me schemin',
Fiendin' after cash,
Nah, trust, I'm this for the feeling
Of reelin' off this timely prose,
We walk in footprints of all those,
Pioneers who laid all these foundations many years ago,
They demonstrated how to grow,
Becomin' our corner-stones,
Progession kept progressin',
Heroes showed us how to rock our shows.
And tho' the heights they've scaled,
Can leave ya feelin' vertigo,
Your lookin' up at gettin' down,
But all you really need to know,
Is it ain't a competition,
They're just people who learned how to flow,
And there's nothing stoppin' you from simply adding your own verse, ya know?
Basically about me getting over my fear of not being as good as my heroes.

This is the first time I hear a song from you in this tone, great job man!
One coming for you sometime soon too, pretty much just need to get rid of this toothache and lay down the lyrics to the beat you gave me!
Anyway, thanks again dude!
Peace

Seriously Kitt, I've listened to your rambles about this kinda stuff, and you know -exactly- how I feel normally about Hip-Hop, but you've shown me that there -is- good Hip-Hop out there, and this, this is one of the things I'll be listening to for a looooong time.
To have joy, one must share it <3
Thanks for the love snep,
Peace & hugs,

I gotta say, aside from this song being totally awesome (With only a few minor errors to improve on), your spoken intro sounded sooo much like Kurral the Ravine's voice, like even the way he speaks! It brought back some good memorys! Thanks for that! :)
I'm going to take a look at you're other track.
-RRR
I've been working hard on my spoken word stuff, so the hip-hop has been left a little by the wayside, but I'm getting back into it big-time.
Thanks for the praise man, means a lot <3
Peace!

NP. If you want to hit up a collab or something in the future, feel free to leave a shout or PM... I'm always looking for people to work with!
As for your Spoken word submission, I liked it, it was something not many here on FA ever do... it's stuff that stands out from the jumble of other submissions that get the most attention...
You got mine!
Peace,

This is REAL good! Not a single bullshit/trashy/tasteless lyric here. I would have to say that this is the first of the genre that I've ever enjoyed.
Keep up the good work!
