Mortmer takes his troops out for a picnic or something and it turns out his troops were the snacks. Nah, the things don't have teeth. They are just playing around. He'll get his troops back eventually. When the tortur- I mean playing is done.
As for the "picnic," read the comic. He was going to try to ditch them there and head back to the physical realm, but he knew that was never really an option anyway. He has no way to get back.

This is technically my first digital comic made (certainly not the first ever attempted, but those were never finished or posted) so bear with me if it does not make much sense or look visually pleasing to those with a good eye for visual story telling.
