Can you tell anything about the colors from their skin?

Agouti or black, though having never bred anything or having ever had much experience with rats this young, Im really no expert. You know they're going to be dark, and dad is an agouti hoodie so they will be either black or agouti. You can tell from birth which ones have dark eyes and which have light eyes, so that can give you an idea. For the pale one, I don't know. Could be anything from champagne to PEW, or even silver fawn. I have absolutely no idea other than the fact that he has pale eyes :P

Is 3 a typical litter size for a rat? I assumed they had more.

No, average is 12. But they can have any number. Some only have 1 or 2. Some have more but 'do away' with some of them at birth, for reasons known only to themselves. I've known of litters of any number from 1 to 22.

Ohhh! So cute and weird-looking. You rarely get good shots of newborn rats like this. They're just little darlings. :)
