She is collecting tadpoles
I drew a version of this a very long time ago of myself doing exactly the same thing. i love tadpoles and newts. If i wasnt a squirrel, i'd be an otter second and a newt third :D
I used to collect newts as a kid, all the kids on my street did, and we would race them and try to battle them and stuff (this was in the 80's waaay before pokemon LOL) I think we'd get in trouble if we tried to do that these days.
Also ive never drawn an avian before so this was super fun

This is just amazing looking! It seems like every drawing you do, you raise the bar -- I guess that makes sense because every time anybody draws something they learn something and get better. But anyway, she looks so happy! Are you sure you've never drawn an avian before? This turned out great!
This came out super-duper cute, Gem! At first, I thought it looked a lot like Ponyo. However, upon looking closer and reading the remarks, I see the birdy and am most elated at the cute style you did for her. Very adorable. The story in the remarks makes it all that much more favorable. :)
