You have a good handle on watercolors.

I think the only reason it failed is thaat the wolf is no longer.. forward in the picture, you MIGHT be able to make it work again by darkening the areas around and behind the wolf, or perhaps by lightening up teh try by rehydrating the water color on the tree and mopping it up with a sponge or towel.

Other than that, i LIKE the colors on the tree and I like how you managed the wolf, very delicate use of shading there.

you cant realy have a failed drawing because every bit of practice helps, that said there is something off about the picture, its a little hard to say what. that said i think the picture still works. my advice to you would be to go into the woods and paint from life, its the only way to get the colors right. your washes you are using here are beautifull. i especaly like the way you nocked in the branch on the tree on the left, did you use any guach there, there is a nice solidity to it. keep up the good work racoonwolf.

you mean gouache ? no I didn't use it
I just used big plani-brush, and less water to make the background:)

Maybe make the left tree same color as right tree, and then the wolf will be popped out.

Try using colors you'd not normally expect to make the figure pop, next time. Cause your WC skill isn't bad itself, it's just this one has so much of the same browns.
