Capricious is the mascot for Capricon, a Chicago SF convention. Each year I do a series of illustrations for the on-site newsletter, Goat Droppings.
Two years ago, at Capricon 29, the theme was Camp Capricon. This drawing shows Capricious atempting to canoe. Except he doesn't have any hands so paddling is a bit difficult.

Thank you!
So back around Capricon 20, the person who does Goat Droppings came back from a ski trip with an adorable goat statue. She asked if I could do an illustration of the statue for Goat Droppings. That's when I did the original base drawing. Now each year they ask me to dress him up for the theme. I think of it as electronic colorforms. It wasn't until about 2 years later that he was given the name Capricious.
I have a special fondness for Cap, I chaired Capricon 21 and Capricon 25. So thank you for the compliment!
I suspect there are a lot of "secret furs" that attend Windy/Capricon/DucKcon. Going to the cons, but not fursuiting. We have had a few come to Windycon, it's nice to see the crossover. This year I'm Chairing Windycon and I have asked Matrices to be my costuming guest. Most people have no idea how much skill and talent that goes into fursuit building. I wanted some of the folks at "regular" cons see just how awesome they are.
