A Holiday submission for  faccc,

Okay I know this isn't to fancy but I thought with the holidays here you folks might be interested.

My and the folks are doing Gifts in a jar this year and one of the ones we are sending out is our double dutch cookie mix.

when it's finished you'll have a nice bow, round the neck too but I wanted to get a snap of the jar to show the layering effect

1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup baking cocoa
3/4 cup sugar
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1 1/4 cups red and green M&M's
1/3 white chocolate chips (optional)

Mix flour, salt and soda in bowl. Layer flour, cocoa, sugar, brown sugar, and M&M's in a 1 quart glass jar. When adding the flour do so in half cups and pack firmly before adding the rest. pack as firmly as you can with each layer. After adding the M&M's if there is room in the jar add the White chips if you desire

Cover and store in cool dry place for up to a month

3/4 cup butter
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix butter, egg, and vanilla in large bowl. Add contents of jar and stir till combined. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 for 12-14 minutes
