The project is to build a cage around the egg with glue and 300 toothpicks, the teacher will then drop it from 8 feet and see how the design holds up... Mine's totally gonna break, xD!
It was hard enough making a cage that doesn't fall apart! Let alone one that will survive a drop! T^T
The moment of truth is Tuesday at 1:30pm, l3
I'll post a journal with a recorded video if I can remember to film it, lD

i see...
the problem that i see with your design is that it has a flat bottom. that will transfer all the energy of the impact straight to the egg, the result is rather obvious i guess XD
if you had made it in more like a cone shape where the bottom acts as a buffer that dissipates all the energy of the impact your egg MIGHT have a chance^^ but building a cage like this only out of toothpicks is almost impossible, anyway...

thats not a lot to protect an egg :P
you could have used a triangular structure as the base. like this: http://davescooltoys.com/mm5/graphi.....jig_bridge.jpg
that might protect the egg because a structure like that can absorb i VERY big shock!
