Taking a trip back to my Equestria dreamscape. With the Lord of Shadows annihilated http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6889592 http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6889618 . All the ponies freed from his now destroyed realm, and with me have now having a new pegasus form http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6945186 I was confronted with a few more personal problems. How would the ponies who had watched my transformation from a unicorn to a pegasus before their own eyes accept me? Could I actually fly? What do Petina and I do for a living? That last question was of the least of my concerns since Petina already had a couple money making schemes in the works. Flying we'd deal with later if turned out to be a problem. What I did not know was how Twilight and the crew would accept me.
Celestia and Luna were no problem especially since Celestia was the one who had assisted me in getting this new form. After a quick look under the hood Petina said she had no problem with me as a pegasus stallion. Of the Ponyville crew Twilight seemed to accept my new form with no trepidation but that was probably as much due to Celestia's being involved with it as anything. Applejack was a bit wary but since the Princesses had aided in it and Twilight approved she was okay with it. Rarity thought the new colors and cutie mark looked much better than the charcoal grey and blank flank. Applebloom just went along with big sister acceptance.
Rainbow Dash was the one who suffered from a severe case of mental disconnect and expressed it in her usually sensitive, diplomatic, tactful way. Which is to say not very well.

Yep, it is part of public record which is usually stored in the local government branch office. Which in this case is in Canterlot. Usually your date of birth, location of birth, name, parents name, gender, what type of pony you are, what type of ponies your parents are, and what your general body color and eye color are all recorded for the public record. Later when you receive your cutie mark that information is also added to the public record.
The recording of the cutie mark is particularly important since the mark effectively is a pony's personal heraldry. It is often applied to one's personal property as form of proof of ownership. It is almost impossible to magically alter a cutie mark effectively, and cosmetically altering your mark by non-magical methods is very much frowned upon.
In fact altering your cutie mark to pass one's self off as another pony is a sure way to get you in big, big trouble since you are effectively committing a form of identity theft by doing it. Definitely a way to get the locals angry at you. That was part of the problem I was having is that I had no cutie mark and was constantly having to explain my situation to every new pony I met.

Hmm, this makes me wonder what happens when one pony has a cutie mark that's almost indistinguishable from another pony's. Heck, for that matter, what about when a pony tries forcibly changing or altering their cutie mark by tattooing, branding, or something along those lines?
And with how Dash reacted to you ("Made him a cooler pony") -- was that her way of hitting on you? She did seem to really enjoy that Harley motorcycle you got for her.
And I guess that if all else fails, you can ask Dash to show you how to manipulate the weather. There seems to be a never-ending demand for that skill in Equestria.

Are you able to feel the muscles and consciously control them as though they were always there? I can force myself to think on how I'd make my wings fold, flap and contour themselves if I had them and in some rare instances I can feel some reaction from my shoulder blade area. Mostly a tingling.
That leaves only assessments from Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and some of the "background" ponies (including ones you've mentioned like Black & Tan) unmentioned. And what does Ponyville's herbalist think of this?
I don't think Dash is deliberately slighting you. Taken at face value, she's saying this isn't an improvement. Which, if you think about it, is true, at least from her viewpoint. Before you were a unicorn who couldn't fly, now you're a pegasus who still can't fly. Yet. If you prove yourself proficient at cloud-moving and -shaping (which your cutie mark suggests), she'll probably think better of you. Of course, there's no way you'll ever be as cool as her -- that she'll admit.
I expect Pinkie Pie's reaction to be along the lines of, "Oh, okay! Cake?"
I'm thinking Fluttershy might be the most helpful, especially when it comes to learning to fly. Learning from Rainbow Dash could end up like having a recent Olympic gold medalist as a personal coach -- frustrating for both of you. On the other hoof, Fluttershy has her own issues with flying and would not only be more patient but even have some tips for a new student. Or would a flying coach from Cloudsdale be better?
After a quick look under the hood Petina said she had no problem with me as a pegasus stallion.
Oh Petina. We know what your priorities are!

Wouldn't the mares be more worried? I mean that I know how guys work, and guy ponies can't be all that different, so they might notice what they're missing out on now that Petina is around to show them. Twilight's reaction to her is incredibly appropriate given the innocent appearance Equestria has.
As soon as you get back to Ponyville, Pinkie Pie immediately throws a "welcome to Ponyville" party for you. About 20 minutes later, Twilight and the others manage to tell her that the new pegasus is really Baron, at which point it becomes a "congratulations on your pony race reassignment surgery" party. Everypony tries to explain that no, it's not quite like that, it involved nearly dying and a last-ditch healing spell by Princess Celestia, and Pinkie just rolls her eyes and says "Well, duh! I know that! How else did Baron become a pegasus?" and then goes about partying, leaving the rest just shaking their heads and saying "That's just Pinkie Pie."
