Jumping on the bandwagon here.

I never really made a character that I thought was "me" or make a persona of any kind. However, my deviantart name might as well do.

Eggplantman was a character I made in high school. I was busting my ass trying to come up with cool stuff (stuff that eventually became by Zodiac comic) and getting a luke warm "meh" from everyone. However, I scratch out a silly little comic in about fifteen minutes featuring a walking eggplant and everyone goes apeshit. That's the way things go sometimes, y'know?
