Back from around '97 ???
As i said, i did a career in the animation biz, but never animated.
Did the flip book turn, then thought i'd try a basic walk cycle...
She has a bit of a limp, and the hair and tail anim could be a lot better, but this was only my second attempt at animating...
Done a few more since then, some straight ahead, some planned with extremes and inbetweens Sort of felt like i had got a little of the skill since these first stumblings...haven't done any for the last few years...but i might eventually post some new animations...too much to do drawing-wise right now...

oops, repeating post, was supposed to be reply to you, but posted as new post - anyhoo, reply:
Back then Richard Williams ( the guy who directed the animation on "Who framed Roger Rabbit") lived near by and we gave a seminar together at the local highschool...long story...
This walk cycle was just me fooling around...
Anyhoo, if you want to learn to animate, no bs, no massive student-loans, he wrote the best book ever for all animators:
Richard Williams'
The Animator's Survival Kit

Best animation book ever. ^_^

ohgodohgod, Williams ;~; the man is amazing.
Have you seen the 'recobbled cut' of the Thief and the Cobbler? it's been floating around online since 05 I think. Some fan of his tried their best to put the movie back together correctly as possible. It blew my mind and made me realize what the phrase 'animation for the sake of it' meant.

i had heard that there was a "real" version floating around before the commercial release, but never came across it.
The commercial version is clearly adulterated - the authentic sequences patched together with crap bits, voice-overs, songs, etc.
It was RW's dream project and the suits really trashed it.
Any links to the "recobbled cut" ?

Digitigrade isn't at all awkward, hence the norm for four-on-the-floor walking.
Walking on hind legs - it's like when we walk on "tip-toe" - it can be elegant, like dance.
i think the flat-foot stance developed for bearing heavy loads, long forced marches, and slippery terrain...Just a guess.
Requires a shorter heel to pad joint to be useful. The cat girl here might be able to alternate walking styles = something else to think of for stories...
