Bit of filler tonight while i'm working on new art...
i did a career in the animation biz (25 or 30 years...) but i didn't animate! i did layouts, then character design, then series development, script-editing, lots of storyboards, etc...
i could animate, knew basic formulas so to speak, but that would be taking a huge pay cut once i was doing development and board...
Anyhoo, this is back from around '98, there were a bunch of blank flip books lying around the sudio, so i thought i would try doing a simple turn...a 3x4 inch flip book, so it's pretty ruff, and being a flip book it's straight-ahead, no planning...
Scanned and coloured back around '05...
Done a few animations since then, first walk cycle will be posted next.

i never did an anim degree - majored in fine art, minor in philosophy ( i was so practical...uhg!!!)
Found myself in the anim biz by accident - by best friend, also a fantasy artist, died from primitive chemo-therapy when he was 21 - we, his friends, wanted to put on a memorial exhibit of his paintings and drawings, and that needed money to do, so i took an anim job with Ruby-Spears to make some money to do that...Got stuck in the biz for about 30 years...It was fun, etc - but what i really wanted to do was paint fine art and fantasy art, and and make graphic novels. The experience gave me some priceless drawing skills and story structure skills, but not the painting skills - and it took a big chunk of my life - not doing what i really wanted to do.
i'm back on track now.
It wasn't all bad at all - "i entertain children" was my job description... ^_^
