Actually, if memory serves this was during the...Scully era? I just know they (or even just he, but I don't want to assume)were extra anal when it came to supposedly "overly sketchy" drawings (nevermind this one's cleaner than most). The Sonic-esque face was never brought into question at all, oddly enough.
