I learned (i think from an earlier stream of hers) that you need to shave WITH the direction of the fur, which is counterintuitive. You have to take it slow, taking away just a little at a time till you're happy with it.

That's what I usually do, but it's not very effective even after an hour.

I use a horse trimmer, a bit more industrial than a dog trimmer. Maybe you could try that?
