I’ve been making werewolf prints (and other sorts of mythical creature tracks) since I was a kid… but now that I’m older, not only can I make better ones, but I can document them. This is my favorite of the photos in the latest of my werewolf print-making series.
Throughout the years, I find more and more often that the quality of “evidence” varies greatly between the different conditions that lead to different sorts of prints.
For instance, simulated tracked mud can lead to prints that lack dimension http://nashoba-hostina.deviantart.c.....Print-33721927
Snow can give some depth, depending on how much has fallen: http://nashoba-hostina.deviantart.c.....races-79351119
Sandy soil tends to leave clear, but somewhat featureless prints http://nashoba-hostina.deviantart.c.....east-102062876 http://nashoba-hostina.deviantart.com/art/Measure-104758235
While sticky mud can both provide more detail, and less detail, because of how the mud sticks to the’ paw’ when it is lifted. http://nashoba-hostina.deviantart.c.....ting-201739938 (The linked print I actually didn’t make, but was left by one of the local coyotes. But it’s what inspired the one posted here).
Each attempt has its pros, its cons, and its flaws. There are parts of this attempt that I like, and parts I dislike... but the next one will be better, at least, and the casting I made from it wasn’t too shabby either!

one would imagin that if a werewolf left a track, the print would be much larger and depending on the weight (which i would imagin would be between 200 and 300 pounds ) the pressure would make the mud spread outward and well up around the outside area. all in all its a very nice print
Also look like this werewolf has recently had his or her nails trimmed :D Like you I loved making werewolf tracks outside when I was younger. One of my best sets depicted the difference between the feet and hand/paws, had it set up like he was just sitting there on all fours looking over a hill. Had a few of my friends like O__O!?! when they saw them lol
Back when I had a pair of digitigrade boots I made (had to sell em because of tight finances), I went running all over campus at 2AM after a fresh snow fall. It made for some fun listening the next day because I went into a bunch of dorms and buildings so no one could tell where they originated from.
Very nice print, do you use actual shoes or is that just a stamp?

The sandy prints linked to in the artist's comments were made on my college campus, so I know what ya mean in terms of fun there. I used a creek to hide the start and end points for mine though.
And yeah, I have a couple of sets of werewolf print shoes I've made for myself. This particular set didn't hold up very well in the sticky mud, so I'll try something new next time XD
