My aunt has asked that I make her a Temari for xmas so have tried something a little more complicated this time. The bottom of the ball is a green and silver basketweave which I still managed to screw up after redoing it twice, so I'll just have to hope she doesn't notice XD

Well if you make them properly like my first one it's cloth stuffed with rice to make a ball, then wrapped in yarn, then sewing thread, then you just sew the patterns on :3

Cause this one is big I've cheated and used a polystyrene ball lol

They are traditional Chinese kids toys that migrated to Japan and became more of an art form . They're made mostly in Japan now and are basically just really pretty balls XD They often have bells or seeds inside so they make.sounds as they're played with :)

They are usually made much smaller but I'm going to makeing a massive one as a fursuit prop so practicing on larger than average sizes :3

Yea I think quite a lot of people do use them for that :3 I shall be making lots of mini ones for presents fir next xmas I think :)

I'm sure they'll be very well received! I've been making crochet baubles this year that run along similar lines (though not as complicated patterns) and adding tassels on the bottom. Might look nice on a temari bauble!

Yea I could do chinese lucky knots on the bottom as they end in lots of tassles ^^

Will this ball ultimately be used with your fursuit?

If so, were you planning on supersizing one so that it can be seen easily when in suit?

Haven't come up with the design for the fursuit one yet but the biggest polystyrene ball I can find so far is 29cm diametre :)

Well originally I wanted something much bigger but now I've started making them it would be a huge amount of work and be very very expensive XD lol
