^..^ Ah, I do love me some maws.
XD Tried something weird and new. Kinda fun! Like the outcome.
o..o And yes, I am still alive. My laptop died a while ago for those who didn't see the journal. So my online time is veeeeeery limited. Also my drawing time, sadly.
o..o Now if you'll excuse me, I'm about to eat your face.

Ah! You could have cracked a great deal on black Friday... You might be able too still, if the stores have a large number in stock. Perhaps. Either that, or you could wait till Christmas time when they become mad cheap again. Either way, I hope you get something good with a great price!

I'm well aware of the anatomy of a snake, and I don't want you to think I neglected it out of ignorance.
I drew this picture more as a simple experimentation, and it also has a fairly cartoony look to it, so of course it won't be anatomically accurate. I mean, it's certainly not a snake that could be found on earth, that's for sure. XD
But thank you for your criticism! The main reason I dropped the glottis, I suppose, was that it got in the way. Hence why I adopted very pronounced nostrils to cope for the loss of that airway. In other words, I don't claim to be any sort of source of knowledge as for reptiles or any species really. I just make sure that they still make anatomical and plausible sense so that I never feel I am limited in how something should or should not look. So yes! I hope that clarifies. ^..^

Ooooh, I love the third picture!
In any case, it's nice to see a fellow appreciator of snakes, haha! I'm not sure I'll change everything, but I'll definitely keep some of it in mind for next time I draw a new rendition of this character. To be perfectly honest it'd probably be incorrect to call my character a snake, given its anatomical build. I suppose it would be more correct to call this a sort of snake-like alien race, as it's not even found on Earth.
I'd have to recheck, as it's been a loooooong time since my herpetological obsession, but I'm pretty sure that most snakes only have one fully functional lung, and this one has an organ that mirrors the function but couldn't be correctly classified as a "lung". It also doesn't follow the build of either a constrictor or a venomous snake, having the belly scales of a venomous snake with the muscles of a constrictor, and also no venom. It also has two fangs on the bottom of the mouth. But hey, it could be worse: What if this snake had earholes?! XD
And for the record, I never made any claims towards being "good". I am hardly good in any sense of the word. I just draw for fun. XD
In fact, this drawing was done in my history class, without any references. I later coloured it on the computer, but so long as I had fun doing it I saw no reason to bother keeping it along the guidelines of any snakes found on Earth.
Regardless of its obvious failings, I hope you still enjoyed it on some level. ^..^
And as long as we're sharing pictures, here!

My favourite kind of snake. The scales are absolutely gorgeous. ^..^

No offense? Before you feel the need to launch a crusade against other people's artwork they worked so hard on, you should consider a few things.
Good critique is something that is very useful and important for an artists growth, especially for new artists. Bad critique on the other hand, is the complete opposite. It stunts growth, destroys moral, and ultimately hampers whatever fleeting inspiration a non-professional artist might have already had. What you're doing right now is the latter, and you know that.
Linking someone to a snarky, sarcastic "reference" of your own drawings isn't doing anything but making you look egotistical, foolish, and for the record: completely wrong. Yes, drawing from reference and real anatomy is important, that's a given. But telling someone they're "wrong" when they decide to deviate from that is simply ignorant. I'd like to see you send your "reference" over to these artists and maybe put them on the right path:

Or maybe you'd like to send your feedback to Disney?

I've been to your gallery and I've seen the witty little arguments in your recent submissions, so I know what you're trying to do. You have every right to say whatever you want on your own page and I will respect that. Don't come over to MY friend's gallery, tell MY friend he can't draw how he wants, and ultimately trying to destroy MY friend's foundation of inspiration I've helped support.
And honestly, credibility is the first thing I look for in an artist that gives out critique. Lets just say you should come back in about ten years.
I've been drawing for two. What's your excuse?

Whilst anatomical anatomy is great and artists should ideally strive to improve it, it isn't as important as you make it out to be. Art isn't a precise diagram of something else, it's an artist's own interpretation of something with their own aesthetic intricacies thrown in.
Your reference /is/ snarky and sarcastic as you have clearly attempted to imitate Aerith's style for the 'inaccurate' side of your image. You also say that you have never done this for another person's art, further suggesting that the image was drawn not as a 'handy reference' but as a form of blunt criticism which Aerith did not ask for. If you did intend for this to be a helpful reference you would have given this to him privately, instead you post it to your gallery and give it a description in which you adopt an aggressive tone and take a stab at vore as a fetish, which Aerith likes to draw.
"...you probably shouldn't revive old conversations that were apparently tender..." - They weren't, Aerith is just polite, even to people who piss him off.
I have seen you doing this before, posting overly aggressive comments whenever somebody is wrong about reptile anatomy and you really need to chill the fuck out about it. Correct someone whilst being polite, don't bite their face off for being ignorant of something you happen to be knowledgeable about. You remind me of an anime fan who has to scream at somebody for pronouncing a Japanese name incorrectly, or a Star Trek fan who erupts into a furious type-war with anyone who suggests that Kirk was a less than stellar captain.
Since you've acknowledged that you're done here, you have surely realised by now that nobody here appreciates the way in which you deliver your criticisms of Aerith's art. Instead of trying to argue with people who suggest that you are being impolite, can you not simply accept that your criticisms were poorly received and that you were indeed being impolite?
And finally, nobody is doubting your knowledge so you really don't have to keep saying things like, "I'm confident in my knowledge and my stance." or "Lighting, color scheme, composition, texture, and other categories they have me beat. Reptile anatomy? No." You're a massive herpetology nerd and a bit of a bitch, okay, cool, we get it.
