Walking like that actually might seem like the logical way to get around on 2 legs, to a pony, though. An equine's center of mass is right at the shoulders when running (which is why jockeys hunch forward; so they can be above the horse's center of mass). And if humans are these mythical creatures that nopony's ever seen, the closest they've seen are monkeys and stuff, which have hands on all their limbs. So Lyra and Derpy aren't as stupid as they might seem.
Overthinking crap like that is a side-effect of spending so long redrawing the same lines over and over. Needa do more speed practice.
