It's all metal of course, and yes, that is red velvet on the grip, it feels very good to handle, very well balanced. Its balance point is only a couple of inches away from where the hand guard ends. I also love the emblem at the end, it looks like it's laid over a ruby, but for the price it isn't likely, precious gems are freakin' expensive.
