Thankx! I got the seed of the idea after seeing ''2 of a kind, souls intwined'' and the idea crystallized after seeing ''Me and Me!'', since it combined a photograph with the fursona.

I used the eyedropper tool to select the colour of the real shadow that was closest to the part I was adding on, then painted the new shadow part on a separate layer.
I used a different layer for each of the 5 added parts to the shadow (can you find all 5?), so that I could adjust the opacity individually to match the shadow the closest to the part of the real shadow it was next to.
