This is the one in person shot I managed to get of the newly restored Southern 630. I was aboard the recent ill fated Knoxville to Chattanooga excursion which turned into a 10 hour odyssey after 630 started running a hot bearing just outside of Knoxville. She was eventually taken off and diesels pulled us into Chattanooga becuase our train had been holding up the main for nearly 7 hours because of frequent stops.

My understanding of what happened is that as we were pulling through the Knoxville yard the train went over a diamond that crossed over a CSX line which bumped the engine fairly hard and caused one of the bearings to get knocked out of alingment cuasing it to rub constantly.
We ended up stopping four times to regrease the bearing and ended up several hours out on the main that scheduled. We were holding three trains up behind us and one in front of us so NS finally said to get her off and diesels would come get us.
