OK I cannot believe I didn't post this long ago after my visit to Mt. Shosha (where they shot the lords home from last samurai.) In the picture a japanese family is helping their obaasan up a very steep hill leading to/from one of the main temples. This is why I love japan!!! In the states teh grandmother would have been left behind somewhere. An american family wouldn't have put the effort into pushing her up a steep hill (with long steps) in a wheel chair.

Just curious as if you really think like that about grandparents being left behind.
My BF's father had an accident that left him unable to do much (brain injury), and he has to be in a wheelchair all the time. However, we never leave him behind and help him and walk at his being pushed/rolling pace, regardless of there being a hill or whatever may be. I just guess I find it a tad rude to say everyone in America is an obnoxious asshole is all. I know there are a lot of assholes, but that's not just America, that's Earth.
