See if you can track down a copy of Dragon Quest VIII. I really can't recommend it enough to people.
It's got action, mystery, drama, comedy, the combat is very simple but also very strategic while letting you take advantage of being at higher levels, each character is fun to use for their own reasons, and so much more. The story is relatively simple, but what it does it does -right-. The voice acting can be grating at times, but can be turned off. Pretty environments... I could go on and on and on. This was a game that came out before FFXII and blows -that- pile of dust out of the water.

well the thing for me is, doe sit avhe a consestive plot? as in it make sesn instead of lisening to a metnal case that dont know what storry progression is and contradrict itself at the same time and trows in character that is jsut there for fillers and they take center stage and the mains torry was forgten alltogehter now and nothgin makes sens.
and yes one dont avhe to levle grind 10-15 levels just to go to next area...
ff12 ass artsiticly pretty but its plot started of untill one get that extrodenary anoying thing called vaan, bash enterd the scene it was intresting till it stoiped makign csenns all togehter and i mroe or less rebooted the game to se if i actually missed anything, with sadly ir ealsied i dint.
That DQ game ahve been on my radar but never manage to find a copy of it here, got lucky to find odins sphere so, theo i manage to get hold of persona 3 and 4 and some said theya re mreo for combat nothing about storry, allso i can sugest for all on ps2 to wii to check out rouge trooper, a gears of war styled game with heavy empacise on stealth and tactics, and came out way before gears :P

Platformers and things like Legend of Zelda or Ratchet and Clank or Jak and Daxter, some of the only games I feel are best played with a controller. I've played 3D platformers with mouse and keyboard and it just feels... strange. Totally natural for shooter games (all of mine are several years old, but still good. KF, L4D, TF2, Dead Space after massive amounts of settings tweaking to bypass the fact that EA hates PC gamers). RE4 on Wii is also pretty good, not sure what I'd classify that as. Probably be very natural on PC, but remains one of the most shining examples of how to use the Wii's controls given the limitations of the controller (needs more buttons to control things right!)
Hardcore "my series of generic, yearly-sequel shooter is better than your series of generic, yearly-sequel shooter" fanboys can take their disks and shove them somewhere uncomfortable.

I dont hate FPS games but I am getting sick of them seeing as how they are pretty much the only games that get made now...
I never play skyrim in first person mode, I love that saints row the third is a third person shooter and not a first, and I cant wait to finally play Arkham city for PC tomorrow.
the first person shooter series is dead to me..... at least until half life 3 comes out.

This is how I see most FPS games nowadays. They too are the same BC: carry limited equipment (remember how EVEN WOLFENSTEIN allowed you to keep all your weapons? Y DN now can't even hold that many anymore if he used to before?!), regenerative health (makes "surprised factor" less important.) and from A to B (in the past you had to literally go fucking EVERYWHERE to get everything.
Meanwhile, platformers are going the other way around. They add stuff, they make the game longer and/or more amusing. To the point you want not only to play newer platformers over and over, but you feel this desire to play OLD SCHOOL all over!

funny you say that as resistacne 3 was realseid and it went away fomr autoregenerating health and limited weapon selection as 2 had to mreo as the first game has with all guns is in your arsenal and you must collect health packs, all of the sudden the game became a challegne and i cant stand around leiak bullet spunge and jsut every minut to for a second to get full health.
