The Dragon's Den is a little hole-in-the wall Chinese restaurant located on the very outskirts of the Berk Park neighborhood. It's got a decent, if hardly authentic buffet, a nice tank of koi, and some of the cheapest iced tea you'll find in that part of the city.
There's a girl who works alone on a few of the weeknight shifts. No one really knows how she ended up there. You'd remember her- the one who used to roam the playground in a white dress and combat boots. The one who went to regionals in karate in the sixth grade. The one who once graced the cover of The Musician magazine, once named a prodigy for her expertise on the viola. The girl who won at everything, was GOOD at everything- and somehow ended up stuck here, filling drinks and clearing dirty plates.

seriously, though.
HOLY HELL TODAY AT WORK.
I started off by turning on our "Open" sign as usual.
The day was EXCEPTIONALLY slow. I got like nine tables and made a grand total of 11 dollars.
Toward the end of the night, a die-hard regular comes in and says, "THOUGHT YOU WERE CLOSED, YOUR SIGN ISN'T ON"
we checked it, and it turned out that someone had bumped the plug out of the socket, and the sign had been off most of the night.
FFFFFFFFF
but I had time to draw, so... XP
drawn at work, with reference from real stuff at work, on a Chinese placemat.

Over here there's days when the Chinese food place just doesn't feel like being open (even when there's clearly the whole staff in there). We used to go all "knack, knack. Opin de herrup!" And they would say "cum bak to-marrow!" Still don't know why they do it.
I like the mounted news headline. Really puts some extra edge and weight to her demeanor.

Well, they do have family things and stuff. I know at our place sometimes there's more miscellaneous family members there than customers, though we don't usually randomly close for family functions (they use the buffet for the kids' graduation parties, but they do that on the day we're closed, generally).
It's nice that they feel secure enough to just randomly open and close. XD
Hahaha, thanks. Thought it would add something. XD

I thought it was worse at the end of the actual movie, where she basically greets him with a shove after he's been UNCONSCIOUS for an undetermined amount of time, and has barely taken twenty steps on his new, likely highly uncomfortable leg. And yet he still stands.
And of course Stoick's affections are still just as violent.
Hiccup's a Viking. I guess he's just supposed to deal with it, and not expect special treatment. XD And he does stay standing, so he is rather superhuman in that sense. XD

Yeah. And it happened on a night where we were doing important stuff in rehearsals. So I wasted five hours that I could've spent learning some horribly complicated choreography for the musical we're performing NEXT FREAKING WEEK. XP Yeah, I'm kind of pissed.
Yeah, and I basically get blamed if stuff like that happens. Like, my boss thought I forgot to turn it on- it's a horrible waste of food and stuff if the night is that slow. XC

"Blind Kids Love Water-Skiing" is a totally real, honest to goodness advertisement for a blind children's camp charity. Like, we have it in the restaurant right now. I'm actually not pleased with how that turned out- I meant to leave room to suggest the picture that goes with it. :(
I had lots of time to reference decorations at work.
