I started with a rough concept sketch of the basic layout... and then using that as a kind of guide, I started to sketch out the background onto the actual sheet of illustration board. I started with placing the horizon line, and then i drew the ellipticals for the ceiling and the floor - I started with the innermost ellipticals and worked outward. In order to try to make the ellipticals somewhat even, I drew a horizontal line and a vertical line as a central axis, and then measured out equal distances from the center, marked those points, and then drew the ellipse around it, connecting the dots, and trying to make sure that each of the four segments was roughly the same shape.
For things like the star, and the columns, I just measured and marked points on the ellipses equidistant from the center, and from eachother, and went from there.
There may be a better/more accurate way to draw ellipses in perspective, but that's the method I know of.

I upload most of the pictures that I am commissioned for soon after they are complete.
When something is a surprise for someone, or part of a project thats not announced, I wait until later to post the art...
Sometimes art slips through the cracks and doesn't get uploaded for one reason or another, but I guess most of the stuff I don't upload is sketches/con sketches. Sometimes I will, but I don't like to flood my gallery with quick sketches or unfinished works)

It was amazing how you made the floor and the reflection on it. I'm still stun.
I think I should thought of another piece, more characters perhaps. Are you ready ? well I'm not
Still would need try to get the commission slot. Well something to think about for 2012
It would be look stunning as poster A2 on my wall like the previous piece.
