Over the summer I got really into Whale Wars and read up a lot about Arctic and Antarctic ecosystems. Please don't attack me about Sea Shepherd's methods of protest or how Japan has "srs research bsns", because frankly, nothing you say will alter my mindset that Japan needs to GTFO of that sanctuary. Yes, Paul Watson can be a schmooze, but he's got the right idea about whaling. It should not be happening in a sanctuary meant for endangered species.

Either way, I'm not cheesy enough to draw a gored up bleeding whale or dolphin mermaid, but I did want to make a fin whale mermaid when I found out their jaw is two toned :3 Balleen whales also have exquisite elegant flukes <3 Fin whales just happen to fall into the category of (endangered) Japanese whale noms. I did a con at the end of May, and for whatever reason, really got into my colored pencils again :3 I got some really sweet scrapbook cardstock from Biglots for dirt cheap in a million colors that is PERFECT for colored pencils :3 Yes, everything on here is traditionally wrought :D (forgive my cockiness, but I've been way too dependent on digital backgrounds in the past ; 3 ;)

This is relatively recent, posted originally at the end of August. I hope you like her :3 I'd like to make more balleen whale merpeople. Do you guys have any suggestions?
