This was a very personal piece...
I'm not religious, but i've always found religion ( namely Christianity / Catholicism ) very interestingly contradictory. Lucifer being the main one...
Now, I mean no offense at ALL to any religious people here on FA or in the world, but the story of Lucifer has always been a sad one to me... Before he was 'the devil', he was god's first son and the chosen, most beautiful angel in all of heaven. An angel that defied god because he did not AGREE with how God treated Man ( the great flood, etc ) and sought CHANGE... God, being infallible, cast his child out of Heaven and to the lower realm to rule as he saw fit there. So, in my eyes at least... Lucifer is still an angel. An angel that offers us CHOICE... what we do with it is our own doing... (( I believe humans can be perfectly evil on their own accord, not due to 'demons' )) Lucifer is also known as The Morning Star... The same name for the planet Venus ( which is the first 'star' seen at night, and the last to leave the sky at dawn, hence the Morning and Evening Star ) and Venus is the goddess of strength and love... So.. hmmmm ;3
Also, goats in general are often given a bad name in society due to their unusual appearance... people claim they are 'demonic' or 'satanic' creatures... and even though people are skeptical about voodoo, goats are often sacrificed for being a SACRED animal!
And so... there ya go... All my yammering and imagery balled into one.

I Googled some of this and found some good answers to the whole goat/devil thing!
"The goat face represents carnality. In ancient Egypt goats were considered representations as god symbols of lust, and we think lust is an important factor of biology that keeps humanity going so we value that. The five-pointed star really comes from the Pythagoreans. That is the one figure in which every element is within the golden mean of each other. It’s this wonderful mathematical symbol of perfection, organic perfection specifically. Since we are organic life and enjoy the idea of perfecting ourselves, that star is right for us in there and it perfectly fits the goat head inside. Now around it are two circles, one at the tip of the points of the star and one outside. In that are Hebrew characters starting at the bottom and going counter-clockwise spelling Leviathan. In Hebrew mythology, Leviathan was the great dragon of the abyss, this powerful earthly figure that even Yahweh was afraid of. So all these things taken together creates a symbol that Anton LaVey identified with Satanism specifically. When he started the Church of Satan, usually upside down crosses were considered Satanic, and he saw that these different elements and felt this was a positive symbol you could tie to the Satanism he was creating."

"Goats are mentioned many times in the Bible. A goat is considered a "clean" animal by Jewish dietary laws and was slaughtered for an honored guest. It was also acceptable for some kinds of sacrifices. Goat-hair curtains were used in the tent that contained the tabernacle (Exodus 25:4). On Yom Kippur, the festival of the Day of Atonement, two goats were chosen and lots were drawn for them. One was sacrificed and the other allowed to escape into the wilderness, symbolically carrying with it the sins of the community. From this comes the word "scapegoat". A leader or king was sometimes compared to a male goat leading the flock. In the New Testament, Jesus told a parable of The Sheep and the Goats. (Gospel of Matthew 25)"

I'm spiritual. I personally, even if I believed in God, could not be religious. I could not be part of a religion which can be corrupted by human intervention when the whole point is it's a personal relationship with your Lord.
Given that, my Christian roommate has gotten confused about me wanting to know my "Bible quote of the day" from his phone. I can still respect a religion's artifacts and study them.
