Description: Draconic in appearance with insect-like features. Mild temperament, but can be quite skittish when started. Very agile and can use its front four limbs like arms, making the species quite excellent at climbing. Known to be adept hunters, they eat a variety of prey ranging from insects to lizards and even small mammals, though the latter is only in rare cases.

Melokai come in a range of brilliant colours but one feature they all share is their eyes are usually a complementary or contrasting colour, and their innards are a different colour again. They come with a range of markings and it is uncommon to find two with the same or similar markings.

Their mild temperament makes them viable for many uses but do not respond well to physical reprimand. Their hide is durable but if trust is broken, it takes a long time to regain their faith in their companions and/or masters. If they feel mistreated for an extended period of time, they may become aggressive and attack.

Melokai do not have particularly good eyesight, but what they lack in vision their other sensory organs including the sensitive whiskers and antennae on their heads and the fine hair-like fibers on their tailtips which respond to temperature, movement, pressure, etc. If these are grabbed or pulled, the Melokai will immediately become aggressive and lash out as putting pressure on the sensitive nerves is paramount to someone setting you on fire.
