The Elyso is a species that inhabits the mountainous forest in the northern hemisphere. They are a social group that will live in prides of 10-30 members. They are able to communicate through a surprisingly complex writing system that consists of 30 different symbols. The sequence that the symbols is put in determines what the message is and just one symbol out of order could change the entire meaning of the phrase. As such the Elyso are very methodical in their communication- so as to prevent mistakes.

They are very colorful race, and their patterns are not determined through genetics. As of now, it is not sure what determines their coloration or if it is simply random chance.

As a whole the Elyso are very friendly towards members of other species, but will not go out of their way to make allies. All in all, they prefer their peace and quiet. However if battle were to find their doorstep they would not hesitate to protect their way of life.

The pride is a very open community and while there is a pair who rule over the pride, all are welcome to voice their opinions on any subject. Breeding is also open and a female over the course of her life may give birth to offspring with several different sires. This does not mean they are a promiscuous species, but rather they develop deep lasting bonds between several members of the pride. Because they are so open, inbreeding does occur, though most are very careful and avoid it.

A young Elyso is born live from its mother and almost entirely helpless. While born live like mammals, they are able to eat any food that their mother brings them until they are old enough to hunt for themselves.

An Elyso's diet consists of wild game that live in the surrounding forest as well as any number of berries and wild grasses. In the winter, a pride may travel further south if food becomes scarce.
