Oh I'm very well aware that breakups can end quite badly, and that the song depicts a tame breakup, but that doesn't mean it's not sad, as most breakups are.
I mean if your significant other met someone new, and decided to part ways with you- you have to give them props for being honest, but it's still hard to see someone you love be in love with someone else. I mean, if my boyfriend were to break up with me this way- I'd have to respect him for being honest, and I'd want him to be happy, but it doesn't mean I wouldn't be upset. I love him, so I'd be heartbroken! That's all I'm saying. I'm not saying the song is super tragic or anything, but it has a bittersweet tone to it.
