Looks like it was quite large, pretty old tree too?

Well it looks like you'll have enough firewood for a couple of years!

We don't have a fireplace.

This happened to my family 2 times, we sold the wood after we cut it into cords. Turned out pretty evenly.

That one severed limb looks pretty well degraded.

It might cost a little, but a good investment would be to call an arborist to come and check any trees that will in the future possibly fall and take out your house.

A friend here in the Pacific Northwest had that done since there was a lot of very big trees close to his house, and they get big here. They were able to identify diseased and ones in danger of falling and getting them dealt with before his house became a pancake, as well as some that needed some minor TLC to stay healthy.

I just had this happen a month ago - lost a 40 foot pine and two apple trees from the orchard.....

It's years like this that make me glad I own a chainsaw. Where I live this snow was a DISASTER for the trees and the whole town! Furries got hurt and one was sent to the ER after getting hit by falling tree limbs. Tree trimmers are making bank. I wish I had that job this year.

That thing looks massive! I'm glad it wasn't close, because it that big part of the trunk hits the house it would have caused much more damage.

Tree was not amused by the shed.
