This was my costume for halloween 2011. I was an armored Satyr from the Cronicles of Narnia genre.
I made all of that with the exceptions of the hoof boots base which was sculpted by
MagpieBones The breastplate was made with 8-10oz leather and the scales were made of hundreds of machine washers I had laying around my shop (garage) from previous projects I've done over the years. The copper rivits I was using were too narrow for the larger washers, so I had to place a smaller washer on top of those so the rivet would hold in place well. I really like the layered look. This is functional armor by the way, and would pass the SCA (Society for Creative Anacronism) standards for armored combat. The micro-chain mail underneath is fake though. Just a mesh shirt I found that looked cool.
The facial hair was applied that afternoon hours earlier and it was looking pretty horrible by the time this pic was taken. I need to use more 'hair' next time I try a beard thing. I applied it too thin. Need to darken up the ears too next time, I made them to match my skin before getting a tan from working outdoors. Need to learn how to darken up precast latex.

I did. If you look closely at the fabric and the first attempt I made at an okapi fursuit (mark I) you'll notice its the same exact fabric. I had just enough spare material to craft these. Only thing I didn't make was a Satyr tail, but it would have been covered up by the mail and backpiece of the armor anyway. I might make one for MFF just so I can be a Satyr there for a bit too. Just without the armor.
There is absolutely no way what-so-ever my Libertarianism would ever allow or be accepted in such a socialist based profession as a teacher. I would be drummed out of the Teacher's Union and therefor unemployed probably faster then my first paycheck would be processed.
