Trying to draw
soccerwolf 's characters in his style for a project (top 2) This was just a quick doodle of C.B and Bridgett to see if I could even come anywhere near his style. I think... with practice... I can do it. Just need to practice a little more.
Then, for the fun of it, I wanted to see his characters in my style so I went for it (bottom 2) ;)

Just wanted to let you know that I am not offended. In fact, you are very observant. The great German children's book illustrator, Gustav Tenngren designed all of the characters for Disney's Snow White, but when the animators got a hold of his designs and starting working them out, they surpassed his initial work. I, as an artist, am always willing to learn from others in the field.
Take your time with them. I've been refining them for years, and came up with a system that worked for me in illustration. Animation will definitely be an entirely different story. I would say just simplify them, so they move easily. Yet, keep their original figures intact. It's going to be hard to draw an athletic teen boy and a teen girl that's taller than most boys her age and way more developed than most girls her age.
Disney's Peter Pan really helped me with their designs. C. B. is actually a more buffed out Peter, whilst Brianna is a more developed young lady than Wendy.
