When it came to open muzzles and open eyes, this is what I MEANT to do, but nothing quite did it for me until I did this. I actually wasn't planning to do anything with this when I first sketched it, but it turned into a rather nice portrait of Tea the fennec fox. New lessons for this picture included open muzzle drawing, highlights, shadows, soft color layering, and a set of please-don't-look-too-closely teeth. Slow but steady improvement! Onto my next um... whatever I do next!
