This was what appeared in my inbox after my mom watched the latest 
video I put up. She even called me to tell me how much she liked it, that she watched it twice and wants to watch again.
I hid everything furry from her for 8-ish years, and it's been about one year since I told her about it all. This is the first time she's been genuinely positive about my involvement in fandom. It may not seem like a big deal, but to me, fursuiting is more than having fun and being a goofball. It's also about entertaining and inspiring others. The fact that it brought such an effect to my own mom, who I love and respect, and who can be REALLY critical and hard to please.... was incredibly moving.
I teared up a little when I saw it. Just wanted to share. <3

My parents sort of knew about it but I wasn't fully open about it until I first got a fursuit in 2008. I picked it up at MFF and as soon as I got back to my hotel room I texted my Mom, "You've got to see my fox costume."
Since then I've started volunteering to wear it at the occasional charity event, and also to the Purim carnival at my dad's synagogue and they love it. Not everyone in my family understands, but my parents do and I'm very happy for that.
