Back in the Summer of 2000, she had a catastrophic leg injury, which made her undesirable to her owners. To make some money back from the horse, the owners were going to sell her to a “killer buyer”. Because of her leg injury, no one wanted poor Lilly, as the cost of repairing the injury was about $9,500. In 2000, the sanctuary's budget had just enough funds to cover the expense. So they adopted Lilly, and gave her a second chance at life. Lilly is now 24 years old. Although Lilly is now well enough to be ridden, she enjoys a life of ease. Lilly recently began having difficulties eating due to developing dental problems. The cost of the dental work starts at eighty-five dollars, and can be more depending on the work that needs done. The Sundance Sanctuary has closed due to financial issues.

Hello Zoomaster, I just wanted to thank you for your donation. Every bit helps. I am very close to closing the sanctuary unless donations keep coming in. I been fighting for 30 years to keep it going. Back in March, 2010 I was in a car accident, got back to work in August then laid off again. Thank you again and the animals thank you also.
