I PHOTOSHOPPED SHADES IN BECAUSE I DIDN'T THINK I LOOKED COOL ENOUGH.
(Probably gonna delete this soon-ish, maybe, if I can get a better picture soon.)
So, for some reason, the local Tesla Motors offered me to test drive this 2010-2011 Tesla Roadster Model S the other day. o.O I wasn't even interested, but the guy asked if I was busy and I told him no, so he told me I should try the car out. Haha. So, I test drove it the other day for about 20 minutes.. and then today they asked if I wanted to take the car out by myself for 2-3 hours. o.O lolol.
They let me borrow this $160k dollar car for 3 hours today, for free. >> Does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. It's all electric, no gasoline.. and it was probably one of the most unique cars I've driven.
I think what surprised me most was that I could floor it, and I wouldn't break traction whatsoever (unlike that Gallardo LP560-4, which was rather intimidating as it wasn't a good idea to slam the pedal down haha). It also has a feature where (depending on your speed), if you let off the gas, it automatically applies light breaking to all four wheels. It also has no power steering surprisingly, but after driving this for a few hours it didn't bother me whatsoever.
It's light as hell (2000 and something lbs), and this special Sport model is a decent amount faster than the regular Tesla Roadster model (easy way to tell the Model S from the regular Roadster is the black rims). But yeah, this thing moves pretty damn nicely. xD I would hit 60-80 mph before I even realized it.. and the car never threatened to spin out or anything, haha.
My biggest complaints were that the steering wheel and even the seat were NOT adjustable (except you could move the seat forward and backward).. so for really short people like me (and tall people), you can't see how fast you're going. xD I ended up switching my dashboard information over to an LCD screen in the middle of the car so I could keep track of how fast I was going (was also nice because when you put it in reverse, it has a camera that turns on at the back of the car so you don't back up into anyone, haha). But yeah, it didn't even have power mirrors (windows were powered thankfully! haha). I think it's just to save energy on the car, and I think the car gets like 275 miles on a full charge.
But yeah, for an electric car? This thing is FAST. Haha. I had someone yell at me to floor it, so I did it just to 40-50 mph and the guy yells out "HOLY SHIT THAT'S FUCKING FAST", lolol. It was a blast. I had people stopping me and taking pictures of the car, honking and waving at me, etc etc. xD lol. ;o So yeah, today was a fun day, and it was nice to get to drive something so different for a change, aside from the Gallardo LP560-4 and so on so forth.
I just wish it made more noise, hahaha. I love hearing the roar of a V10-V12. ;o But this car just kinda makes a little "wheeeee" sound when you floor it, haha.
Good times. I took some videos, too. I brought my window mount to take videos today, but I didn't get really any videos (except from the trip the other day when I test drove it with the sales person). But, they told me I could borrow the car for part of the weekend if I wanted.. so.. who knows, I might do that. It's kind of hard to say no to that. xDD Fun times! <3
