Harriett is a member of the “Sundance Sanctuary”. At an impressive 49 years of age, she is the oldest and longest term resident of the sanctuary. Aside of Cushing's disease (common in horses, and ponies), she is in good health. The Cushing's disease requires medication costing over $150.00 per month. She enjoys nibbling tender grass, eating her senior horse feed, and avoiding anything the even looks like work (although she has been retired for decades). The Sundance Sanctuary has now closed do to financial issues.

Hi all, I am the owner of The Sundance Sanctuary. I have owned and run this sanctuary for over thirty years now and now being faced with having to give it all up. Due to a recent layoff (Since August, 2011) I have been barely scraping by with all the bills. This pains me in a way that is almost unbearable and at times I want to just give up. I realize we all feel the pinch of this lousy economy and I do not see it getting better anytime soon. If you can please help out in anyway this would help me and my animals get through another month , one at a time. The old pony in the picture has been with me since I was born, she is a few months older them me. As you can understand my true love for animals, not to many people can say that at the age of forty nine, my pony and I have been together since 1962. We will be posting more to this page as days go on and let you all know how things are progressing. I can be found on Furaffinity.net as Dinkster-Donkey and welcome comments even if some of you would like to visit the sanctuary this can be arranged. Please tell 2 friends as they can tell 2 friends and so on, lol, you get the idea. Please help me continue what I was put here on this earth to do, Thank you....
Hello everyone. I wanted to post that Harriet passed away on July 1, 2013. She was 52 and a half years of age. I have had her for just under 51 years. I truly miss my friend for life, my truest love. She was the oldest pony in the usa from what I was told by my vets. The Sundance Sanctuary now only has four residents left. I am hoping to get the funds we need to continue in the spring and bring in more animals in need of a loving forever home.
