Description
The Twin Dragon Blade Excalibur has three Modes between witch it can switch freely. All three modes have the general shapes of the weapon in common, varying only their arrangement. These general shapes are:
Two symmetrical blades roughly the shape of right-angled triangles with round cut-outs effectively removing the right-angled corner and most of the shortest side.
One or two symmetrical crystals.
One or two long slightly flattened cylindrical hilts with flattened hemispheres as pommels on each end.
Several connecting cylindrical bars slightly thicker in diameter than the blades:
One or two long main bars extending from the hemispheres of the hilt on one or both sides, through the crystal(s), and converging to slightly rounded points shortly after leaving the crystal(s) again.
A complete or two half crossbar extending at 90° from the main bar at the central of the crystal(s), connecting the blades to the main bar, converging to rounded ends on the blade.
Two twisted bars extending at a 45° angle from the hemisphere(s) at the hilt, twisting around the main bar at a distance and then converging at a 45° angle the central intersection of the main bar(s) and crossbar(s) inside the crystal(s), then extending straight beyond the crystal at a 45° angle and connecting the blades to the main bar like the crossbar(s), also converging to rounded ends on the blade.
The three modes of Excalibur arrange these general shapes in different manners, thus creating different weapons:
Thunder Sword Mode
The two blades are arranged next to one another with a little gap in between like a colossal sword breaker. The crystal is arranged between the blades inside the round cut-outs, thus not touching either blade. The blades are connected by the crossbar and the extended parts of the two twisted bars. The main bar and the two twisted bars connect the crystal to the hilt. In this mode Excalibur can fire massive blasts of energy from the crystal using the gap between the two blades like a railgun. These blasts cause a massive atmospheric explosion on impact dealing not only massive damage but also resulting in deafening thunder.
Storm Axe Mode
Much like the breaker sword mode, only Excalibur gets broken up into two halves with one blade each. Each half still has the complete hilt, main bar and crystal, but only half the crossbar and one twisted bar since only one blade has to be connected to the crystal. In this form both blades have the ability to unleash slicing shockwaves allowing the chosen wielder to unleash a storm of destruction upon his opponents.
Lightning Spear Mode
Much like twin axe mode, only the two weapons get inversely fused at the hilt so there’s a blade pointing in each direction. In this mode Excalibut looks somewhat like a stylized lightning and can be thrown like a lightning bolt only to magically reappear in the chosen wielder’s hands after impact.
Excalibur changes between these modes by de-materialising for the fraction of a second and then re-materialising in its new state. For the observer this will look like the weapon simply switching into its new state within a flash of light while the chosen wielder moves his/her hands to match the new mode. (For example: The change from Thunder Sword Mode to Storm Axe Mode will look like the chosen wielder rips the sword into two halves at the hilt with Excalibur briefly turning to pure light in the fraction of a second when it comes apart, then turning to normal again when the two parts are far enough from one another not to intersect.)
Trivia:
The Twin Dragon Blade Excalibur is a divine weapon possessed by two sky dragon spirits. Like its namesake from the Arthruian Legend it can only be wielded by those deemed worthy – in this case by the twin dragon spirits who only allow those with strength of heart to wield this mighty blade. If one is deemed worthy the twin dragon spirits will use their powers to partly levitate the blade, making it possible for the chosen wielder to even lift the otherwise extremely heavy blade.
The magical nature of this weapon allows it to change form at the will of the chosen wielder. Most curiously certain parts of the weapon such as the crystal focusing the spirits of the twin dragons can and will seem to be in two places at the same time in some of its forms. But actually there always are two of each of these double parts: When there appears to be only one of them there actually are two fused in the same place.
